Clubhouse Finally Emerges On Nicklaus!

FullSizeRender 3

This week, the Jack Nicklaus course clubhouse was being prepared for construction over on the West side of Reunion Resort.
After almost a decade without any sort of clubhouse, the youngest of the three Reunion PGA courses will at last have bricks and mortar instead of a tent.

The news is very much welcome for owners and guests over in the Muirfield Loop, Palmilla Ct, Golden Bear, Bear’s Den Reunion and beyond.

We will keep you posted with regular photo updates!

Reunion Resort Express Window

We recently tried the Express Window at Reunion Resort’s Clubhouse.
Having refueled after a fast paced morning round on the Watson Course, a quick tasty lunch was much in order before heading off to a business meeting.

Thankfully, the Express Window worked out perfectly for us.

We didn’t have to wait too long at all before our ‘Birdie’ (Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bagel) appeared right in front of us.
Hot coffee and a Granola Bar got us back into the real world as we packed our clubs into the car.

The Reunion Resort Express Window is a great idea that always seemed to obvious to think about!

Reunion Resort Pools – Closure For Maintenance

Some very welcome news that two of the resort pools are receiving some attention this month.
In a newsletter today, the HOA, operated by Aegis, announced that resurfacing of the Homestead and Carriage Pointe pools would take place during the quiet season at Reunion Resort.

Site Preparation Begins For Clubhouse on Nicklaus Course!

The area surrounding the 18th fairway of the Nicklaus course appears to be getting ready for further development this week.

During a brief drive by, sewers are going in, marking the first real steps towards the long awaited Nicklaus clubhouse for Reunion Golfers.

Details on the separate Bear’s Den Club are still scarce, but that private gated community is expected to have its own pool and clubhouse has no commercial connection to the upcoming Nicklaus course clubhouse that is expected to become available to all Reunion members and guests.

Annika Sörenstam Leaves Reunion

After almost a decade, the most famous woman in golf is moving on from Reunion Resort!
From her website, she writes about moving on to focus on her family and other business interests.
Of course, we wish her the best of luck and will greatly miss her and her association with Reunion.

Going forward, we have heard that the academy will be rebranded as a Reunion Resort product and will continue to operate.

Seven Eagles Cove – Fitness Suite Access

From the latest membership email;

The Reunion Fitness Center at the Cove now has controlled access! An electronic push button lock has been installed so that only Club Members and residents who pay CDD fees, along with official Reunion Resort guests, will have access to the fitness center. The code will be changed monthly and will be available via the Member’s website posted online. The initial code is #### (code removed by me for security)

Reunion Water Park – Parking Lot Closed

Update:  although we can’t officially confirm, we do believe that the closure of the water park’s parking lot will probably continue for the foreseeable future.

As I drove by the water park this afternoon, I couldn’t help notice the absence of vehicles in the parking lot.  Drawing closer, the entrance was taped off and a couple of new signs had appeared.

I don’t have any information on why, or how permanent the signs are, but from what’s on display, the car park looks out of action for the long term.

A Reunion Resort marked sign is directing water park guests to park over at the Whisper Way and Cabana Court areas.

The water park seemed busy and unaffected as the temperatures this week brought welcome warmth and sunshine to Reunion Resort!

A Trespass Warning signifies the area as a construction site.

Frankly Putting Pad Closed

Frankly Golf

I’m told that one of the nicest people in golf has closed the doors on a very popular business at Reunion Resort.
The Frankly Putting Pad ceased operations very recently, to make way for Reunion Resort’s offices, (about to be relocated from its former location over at the disused fire station).

A number of members have expressed outrage at the loss of the golf world’s most highly respected technical experts.
I’m unable to verify this, but one owner advised me that Reunion had suggested that the recent upheavals were down to Encore asking Reunion to leave land that Encore currently owns at the fire station, (let’s treat that as a speculation for now).

If this rumor is true, my understanding though, was that the resort had been aware of Encore’s plans for some considerable time and not something that should have been a surprise.
I’m hoping that the Frankly Putting Pad has not been closed for this reason, as it would further underline an apparent trend of short sighted mentality at Reunion.

Sadly, Frank Thomas, the esteemed inventor of the graphite shaft and the man responsible for introducing the Stimpmeter, will no longer be a part of your golf technique improvement program at Reunion Resort.
