Clubhouse Finally Emerges On Nicklaus!

FullSizeRender 3

This week, the Jack Nicklaus course clubhouse was being prepared for construction over on the West side of Reunion Resort.
After almost a decade without any sort of clubhouse, the youngest of the three Reunion PGA courses will at last have bricks and mortar instead of a tent.

The news is very much welcome for owners and guests over in the Muirfield Loop, Palmilla Ct, Golden Bear, Bear’s Den Reunion and beyond.

We will keep you posted with regular photo updates!

Reunion Resort Express Window

We recently tried the Express Window at Reunion Resort’s Clubhouse.
Having refueled after a fast paced morning round on the Watson Course, a quick tasty lunch was much in order before heading off to a business meeting.

Thankfully, the Express Window worked out perfectly for us.

We didn’t have to wait too long at all before our ‘Birdie’ (Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bagel) appeared right in front of us.
Hot coffee and a Granola Bar got us back into the real world as we packed our clubs into the car.

The Reunion Resort Express Window is a great idea that always seemed to obvious to think about!

A True Legend – Arnold Palmer

screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-12-08-54-pm-2

Yesterday, a golfing great, a man of the people, died in his home state of Pennsylvania aged 87.
More than a mere golfing legend, Palmer will be fondly remembered as a man that not only inspired a new generation of golfers to take up and embrace the sport, but the Latrobe legend placed a profound importance on charitable work across the USA.
Revered in the top 10 players of all time, Palmer had 7 major wins from 1958 through 1964.

Reunion Resort of course, was blessed by his 6916 yard par 72 course.  One of 3 that Reunion can uniquely boast.

The next time you tee up on the Palmer course, kindly smile and think of a man that can be acknowledged as one of the founders of modern sporting culture.

A man that knew how to tackle a challenge: His intense fear of flying, took him to owning and piloting his own light aircraft and clocking up over 20,000 hours of flight time.  A remarkable and inspiring mentality. Reunion Resort Blog Editor

Site Preparation Begins For Clubhouse on Nicklaus Course!

The area surrounding the 18th fairway of the Nicklaus course appears to be getting ready for further development this week.

During a brief drive by, sewers are going in, marking the first real steps towards the long awaited Nicklaus clubhouse for Reunion Golfers.

Details on the separate Bear’s Den Club are still scarce, but that private gated community is expected to have its own pool and clubhouse has no commercial connection to the upcoming Nicklaus course clubhouse that is expected to become available to all Reunion members and guests.

Annika Sörenstam Leaves Reunion

After almost a decade, the most famous woman in golf is moving on from Reunion Resort!
From her website, she writes about moving on to focus on her family and other business interests.
Of course, we wish her the best of luck and will greatly miss her and her association with Reunion.

Going forward, we have heard that the academy will be rebranded as a Reunion Resort product and will continue to operate.

18th Fairway Update

Here’s a panoramic shot from today of the land around the 18th that will eventually be filled with a number of high end luxury homes by Encore.
Very little if any information is being released about the project and lot sizes, pricing, floor plans and other details are still not available.
The re-design has funded a much needed clubhouse for the Nicklaus course, and hopefully the aesthetics of the area will significantly improve once that big old tent disappears.
I didn’t walk over to the practice area today, but that too is progressing swiftly.
I’m definitely no expert on green-keeping, but the course still looks some way off from being playable, but, to be fair, it has been extremely dry over the last few months and today’s rain storm over Reunion was very much welcome as far as I could imagine.

Frankly Putting Pad Closed

Frankly Golf

I’m told that one of the nicest people in golf has closed the doors on a very popular business at Reunion Resort.
The Frankly Putting Pad ceased operations very recently, to make way for Reunion Resort’s offices, (about to be relocated from its former location over at the disused fire station).

A number of members have expressed outrage at the loss of the golf world’s most highly respected technical experts.
I’m unable to verify this, but one owner advised me that Reunion had suggested that the recent upheavals were down to Encore asking Reunion to leave land that Encore currently owns at the fire station, (let’s treat that as a speculation for now).

If this rumor is true, my understanding though, was that the resort had been aware of Encore’s plans for some considerable time and not something that should have been a surprise.
I’m hoping that the Frankly Putting Pad has not been closed for this reason, as it would further underline an apparent trend of short sighted mentality at Reunion.

Sadly, Frank Thomas, the esteemed inventor of the graphite shaft and the man responsible for introducing the Stimpmeter, will no longer be a part of your golf technique improvement program at Reunion Resort.

Here’s a quick summary of the Nicklaus Course remodel at Reunion Resort.

The huge project is already well under way and thankfully, we now have a glimpse of the layouts of the two new holes, the clubhouse and the practice amenities.
As you probably saw in the post from June, there’s an unbelievable amount of dirt being moved to make way for the long awaited upgrade, to what is probably the most beautiful of Reunion’s 3 PGA courses.

We’ve marked up the aerial rendering to show some of the previous features, in relation to the new.

Water Park, Tennis & Golf Access For Private Home Guests – A Guide

Palmilla Pool-5

If you are looking for the very best luxury homes in Reunion Resort, chances are they will be privately owned and managed by one of the vastly experienced independent property managers. The growing choice of magnificent homes, with private pools, spas, golf views and in many cases, home theaters, games rooms, and even an occasional bowling alley! Despite the vast majority of homes on Reunion being managed by private property managers, the resort continues to restrict access to amenities, for private house guests.
